Spring Book Club: Mentor: Guiding the Journey of Adult Learners, by Laurent A. Daloz Online

Instructor: Dimitrios Papanagnou, MD, MPH

Join us for a three-session book club focused on the second edition of "Mentor," a practical exploration of mentoring and its transformative power in learning. This book, enriched with inspiring vignettes, reveals how anyone who teaches can become a successful mentor to learners.

Through our discussions, we will delve into the intricacies of adult learning and development, the search for meaning as a motive for learning, and education as a transformational journey. Topics covered include how adults change and develop, how learning transforms the learner, and the barriers and incentives to learning and growth. We'll also explore effective strategies for guiding adults through difficult transitions and fostering a supportive and challenging learning environment.

This book is available online as an e-book from the Scott Memorial Library. You can access it here: [Mentor e-book](https://jefferson.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/permalink/01TJU_INST/15pdl1s/alma991000882707203866).

At the end of this session, participants should be able to:

1. Discuss the principles of adult learning and development, and how mentoring can facilitate this process.
2. Explore the dynamic of transformation in learning and how it changes the learner.
3. Identify effective strategies for guiding adults through difficult transitions and fostering growth.
