A Disabled Artist’s Journey through Art and Activism

A Disabled Artist’s Journey through Art and Activism In-Person

Stop by Scott Memorial Library for an informal presentation led by Wendy Elliott-Vandivier, artist and long-time disability advocate.

Wendy Elliott-Vandivier will show examples of her cartoons focusing on disability awareness and microaggressions that disabled people experience as they try to live their ordinary, "un-inspirational" lives. Wendy's artwork will be displayed on Scott's 2nd floor until the end of December 2024.

Lunch will be available while supplies last. Students are encouraged to register for a hands-on cartoon-making workshop immediately following the presentation. Students will create art about microaggressions, ableism, and other forms of discrimination. Participants can receive credit towards the Asano Humanities & Health Certificate.

Registration for the informal presentation by the artist at 12pm is not required and is open to all.
