SKMC Women in Medicine and Science Program - Moving the Needle: ​Strategies to Support Success, Inclusion and Belonging In-Person / Online

In today's dynamic and diverse world, fostering an environment where success, inclusion, and belonging are not just aspirations, but everyday realities is crucial. "Moving the Needle" refers to the proactive and strategic efforts needed to make tangible progress in these areas. 

 

At the end of this session, participants should be able to: 

  1. Empower individuals and key leaders to advance inclusion.​ 

  1. Create strategies to drive institutional equity priorities. ​ 

  1. Utilize allyship to fight injustice. 

**Nancy Spector, MD, is a Professor of Pediatrics and serves at Drexel University College of Medicine (DUCOM) as Executive Director of the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine® (ELAM) program, a year-long, national leadership fellowship program for women in academic medicine, dentistry, public health, and pharmacy and as Executive Director of the Executive Leadership in Health Care (ELH) program for women leaders in health care systems. She also serves as Senior Vice Dean for Faculty, the Betty A. Cohen Chair in Women’s Health, Executive Director of the Lynn Yeakel Institute for Women’s Health and Leadership (IWHL), Chair of the I-PASS Study Group, and founder of the I-PASS Patient Safety Institute. 

Dr. Spector is a national leader in gender equity in academic medicine.  Her contributions to academic medicine and graduate medical education are in mentoring and sponsorship, leadership skills development, professional development, patient safety and curriculum development and implementation.  

She is the recipient of numerous national awards including the 2023 Elizabeth Blackwell Medal, granted by the American Medical Women’s Association to a woman physician who has made the most outstanding contributions to the cause of women in the field of medicine. Dr. Spector is a Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia and a member of the Advisory Leadership Council of Women in Medicine Legacy Foundation.
