All Women are Bilingual: Sociolinguistics and its Impact of Female Learner Assessment Online
Instructor: Robin Naples, MD
During this session, the audience will learn about implicit bias, specifically as it pertains to gender and our perception of women in the workplace. The speaker will review literature as it pertains to gender bias in academic assessment, along with the social framework by which women use language differently and how this plays into bias.
At the end of this session, participants should be able to:

Define and recognize implicit bias and its impact on women in health professions education.

Review known literature on bias in resident evaluations.

Introduce the concept of women’s speak and its impact on perception.
